Creating a Lasting Legacy in a Meaningful and Powerful Way

Charles and Brooke Wood

Drs. Charles and Brooke Wood's gift will make an impact on cancer care for generations to come.

Since 2009, Drs. Charles Wood, radiation oncologist and medical director of Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, and Brooke Wood, pediatric dentist, have been loyal and committed annual donors. In addition, they made a transformational major gift to help provide much-needed resources and support for cancer patients, right here where they live and work.

As the Woods witnessed the renovation of leading-edge facilities, national recognition and treatment advancements, they knew it was time to make a difference with even greater resolve. The Woods decided to look at their estate planning in a different and unique way— creating their legacy through a planned gift that will help secure the future of cancer care for their children and grandchildren.

Upon learning the benefits of donating life insurance, they realized it was the perfect option for them. Life insurance enabled the Woods to make a much more significant planned gift than they otherwise ever thought possible. With thoughtful planning, they were able to manage the financial responsibilities of their family today in a meaningful and powerful way.

There are many advantages to donating life insurance. Such as:

  • Convenience
  • Potential tax savings
  • Flexibility

There are multiple ways to donate life insurance. You can:

  • Name Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Foundation as the beneficiary of the policy
  • Make an outright gift of an existing policy to the Cancer Center
  • Make an outright gift of a new policy to the Cancer Center

"The demands of the disease are great and the need to do more is now. Our ability to leave a family legacy today and teach our children the importance of giving back to a community that has given us so much has been an incredible gift."
—Drs. Brooke and Charlie Wood
